(A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. Inspired by soulemama. But in this case, in reverse: words - no photos - capturing a moment from the week. )
Despite the danger of boots under foot and children
milling and bumping about among slightly stunned parents
in this narrow hallway sprouting lunches scarves and coats strewn
in an explosion of shedding these layers no longer needed.
Despite this I close my eyes and breathe you in, as you bury your face
in my neck and squeeze me with your sure strong arms
and legs, that I still feel through the squash and fluff of your snow pants as
I carry you above the cold floor and it's many snowy puddles to your room.
In front of everyone and you still cling to me with unabashed love
and your brother in his turn the same even as I plant kisses
on your wonderful cheeks before sending you off into your day and you
bound away with fullness and joy that I hope you always keep.
Vividly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this moment. These hellos and goodbyes that we share with our children are such important touchstones -- for them, and us!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Annie!
Thank you both :)
