Kindred

Amanda at the habit of being has created a beautiful new magazine.  The first issue was just published, and as of yesterday, I can now hold it in hand; something I have been looking forward to for a while now.  Last night after the boys were in bed, and the necessities of winding down the day attended to, I sat with a cup of hot tea, and sunk into the essays, photographs, and poems that are inside this beautiful cover.  I purposefully stopped halfway through, to facilitate the need for another cup of tea and reading very soon.

What adds more to my excitement is that a poem of mine is included in this first issue.  It is easy to say, but I truly mean that it is an honor to be included.  I have loved reading the different thoughts, perspectives, stories shared in the pages and on the website.  Simple honesty and beauty.  And - if you are like me and love the feel of pages in your hand - the feel of these pages is lovely - real and substantial.  A reason to slow down and be present.

I hope you will take a moment to visit Kindred and take a look.  The first run of Issue One sold out, but it is my understanding that you can still get in a pre-order for a second run to be shipped mid-February.  There is also time to enter a giveaway to win two bookmarks here.  There are new photographs, essays, poems and more to be found in the journal, and information about how to submit, if you are so inclined.
